WET WEATHER INFORMATION
In general, always assume that cricket is on, no matter what the weather looks like, unless told otherwise by your Manager. Managers should, if possible, make contact with opposing Managers to make a decision about playing conditions in time to prevent players leaving home. If no decision has been possible, every player should turn up at the ground before the appointed time, and be prepared to stay until the match can start or it is called off – the Rule Book covers this situation in more detail.
Note the NSJCA wet weather policy below:
NSJCA WET WEATHER POLICY
It is a policy of the Association that the safety of players and protection of grounds from possible damage be considered when doubt about the fitness of a ground for play is being considered.
Most Councils have a strict Wet Weather Policy that stipulate that when a ground has been officially ‘closed’ then no play is to take place. This ruling must be followed.
If there is doubt over the fitness of a ground some guidelines should be considered.
- Pools of water or slipperiness of ground around wicket or bowlers approach
- Surface water appearing after walking across grass.
- Will the ground be damaged?
