Gordon wins Spirit of Cricket Award
Club presented with award at 2007/08 “Premiers Dinner" on Friday May 9.
The Sydney Cricket Association each season presents an award to the club that has played its cricket most within both the laws and the spirit of the game.

(The Gordon contingent receive the award at the Premiers Dinner)
The award is judged by the officiating umpires at each First to Fifth grade, Poidevin Gray and Green Shield matches during the season. This is a total of over 90 matches played over the season.
The Gordon District Cricket Club were deemed to have the best record of all grade clubs and the plaque shown on the right was presented to Andy Falk at the Premier's Dinner on Friday May 4.
The top four clubs were Gordon followed by University of NSW, Northern Districts, Manly and Sydney.
The umpires award a point score out of 3 for each match according to the following rules:
3 points exceptional- epitomised the true spirit, traditions and values of the game
2 points played the game in good spirit
1 point uncompromising, but incident-free
0 points generally antagonistic atmosphere created
-1 points unacceptable behaviour- team captain informed
At the end of the season the Gordon club had averaged a ranking of 2.76 which means we generally averaged either 2’s or 3’s during the season.
While winning a premiership or club championship is the goal of every club, this award shows that winning cricket can be played in the right spirit.
The club should be proud of this achievement and strive to maintain this approach to its cricket.
For the record attached are the rules for the Spirit of cricket award.
