 Poidevin Gray win with bonus point
Under 21’s complete good weekend for Stags
The Gordon Poidevin Gray team has completed a good weekend for the club with a win at Sydney University No. 1 to give us an extra 46 club championship points with the Green Shield victory on the adjourning No. 2 oval.

The Gordon innings didn’t start well with the loss of 4 quick wickets for no more than 20 runs and facing a strong Uni attack on a slow outfield. At this point Jack Ritchie and Elliot Richtor decided we were not going to lose anymore wickets and it didn’t matter how many runs we scored for the first 20 overs as we needed to have wickets in hand to make a challenge at the end.
Jack and Elliot batted very well and after 25 overs started to accelerate with Jack in particular hitting over the top to give us a defendable target.
 With Reece Bombas coming to the wicket after the loss of Elliot and working with Jack to score 34 no out, we were able to reach 187 for 8 on a field where 4’s were only scored b reaching the fence on the first bounce. Jack finished with 60 getting out during the final run chase.

Inspired by the gutsy effort of the middle order the opening bowlers james Kennedy and James Campbell maintained a great line to strangle the Uni bats right from the first over. Only 30 runs were scored in the first 15 overs with the loss of 2 wickets. At this stage Matt Jones and Chris Archer came on to continue the tight line. Matt picked up 2 wickets including a great stumping by Harry Evans down the leg side.
Chris bowled out his 10 overs while Nick Cheadle then came on to pick up 3 quick wickets and put the opposition out of the match. During this time there were two stoppage of about an hour in total for lightning and rain, however the 50 overs were completed.
 Overall a great win considering our start and showed these players have some real talent.
