Work underway on new Killara Pavilion

Opening in February 2008

You are probably all wondering about the magnificent new pavilion being built in the grounds of Killara Park by Riboni Residential Constructions Pty. Ltd.

After many years of not having adequate storage and entertaining space at Killara Oval, our former President Ian Carroll has been working quietly in the background to have this new facility ready sometime in January 2008.

An opening function is planned in February hopefully with the Mayor available to open our new building.

Many functions are planned for the new year with Trivia nights, bingo and Karaoke planned to take full advantage of the premises. The Karaoke machine will have to sit on top of the white covers but we should be able to get the Bingo tables between the wicket fence and the Hessian.

The GDCC committee is keen to hold its monthly meetings at the Pavilion to avoid the unpleasant task of having dinner at the Greengate prior to the meetings.

An outdoor terrace is being planned to allow for a more relaxed meeting atmosphere.

The photo shows Riboni CEO Marshall Rosen doing final work on the roof prior to the soft opening in a few weeks.

The naming of the pavilion was easy with the fantastic job Ian has done over the last three years to apply to council, draw up plans and seek the best materials available.

Other uses are being considered such as a dog lock up while Les is preparing the wicket, an Andrew Falk sponsored weather observatory and a “café in the park” for Linda to make the sandwiches prior to play.

A formal announcement of the opening extravaganza will be posted on the website shortly.
