 Teams for Round 9 announced
First grade debut for Matt Jones
The following teams have been announced for Round 9 matches against St. George. Matt Nicholson and Beau Casson are not available for week 1, however will return to play first grade on the second week of the match.
The big news is the promotion of Matt Jones for his first grade debut for the first week as a replacement for Beau Casson. Matt has been in great form for second grade with two 50 's in difficult circumstances to bring home victories in each case. Matt is only 17 and the Gordon historians have been scratching thier heads to find out the last 17 year old to make his first grade debut. While there have been a few 17 year olds such as Kevin Roberts, the three youngest were Ken Eastwood at 15 years 11 months, Brian Taber 16 years and 5 months and Sid Carrol 16 years and 11 months.
Either way it was quite a while ago. Congratulations Matt.
Julian Stephenson also returns to first grade as a replacement for Matt Nicholson for week 1. Cameron Eccles returns after a minor knee operation and will play second grade. James Kennedy will make his second grade debut as a week 1 replacement for Jules.
With grade games on Saturday and also both Poidevin Gray and Green Shield playing St. George on the weekend the results will be very important as Saints are just one point ahead of us in the club championship.
The players in red and blue below are the replacement players through each grade. First grade are playing at Hurstville Oval from 10.30am. Seconds are also at 10.30am, while the lower grades start at 12.30pm.
