Great win by Colts after waiting for wicket to dry.
Persistence from the Colts captain Michael Weaver paid off when he arrived at the ground at 10am on Sunday to find one end of the wicket still very damp and unplayable. In consultation with the webmaster, also visiting the ground at the time and after much discussion, a decision was made to call the opposing captain and advise him of the state of the wicket, and let him know that if the sun came out we may have a chance of playing.
(Patrick Effeney in action against the tigers)
To his credit the Sydney Tigers captain agreed to come down to the ground at 12 noon. Weaves then settled into waiting at the ground until midday. The sun did come out and with a drying wind the pitch and surrounds started to improve.
Although chasing 280 on a very slow Beauchamp outfield the Tigers skipper agreed that the game should continue after a delay. Well done the Tigers!!
The Gordon attack was on the mark early and wickets started to fall. Patrick Effeney bowled very well as did Paul Campbell and little Cubby.
(The tigers batsman has his eye on this delivery from Paul Campbell)
The bowling proved too strong against a very gallant and committed Tigers team.
The six points are very important to the colts team and will give them encouragement for the games ahead.
Well done Weaves on your persistence.
