This week four of our young Gordon grade players Rob Edwards, Harry Evans, Nick Cheadle and Steve Colley are taking on Queensland in a three day match at Barker and then a one day game at the SCG for NSW Schoolboys. In addition to the Schoolboys team, Rob Edwards has also been selected in the NSW Under 17 squad which will be travelling to Melbourne in January for the Australian Under 17 Carnival.
Robert, Harry, Nick and Steve are to be congratulated on their sustained play over the last two seasons and their continued commitment to the Gordon Cricket Academy.
For the record, Robert Edwards was our Green Shield player of the year last year and currently playing for Knox College with Year 12 ahead of him next year. Harry Evans is our current second grade wicket keeper and middle order batsman, who has now completed his HSC. Nick Cheadle is a leg spinner and middle order batsman who has also finished his HSC and played for the second grade team last Saturday. Nick also scored that fantastic 134 against Bankstown in our recent Poidevin Gray match. Steve Colley is an opening batsman and off spin bowler from the Central Coast who captained our Green Shield team last year and is currently playing third grade.

For the historians we believe this is the first time we have had 4 representatives in the NSW Schoolboys since Matt Nicholson, Nick Cutler, Scott Curwood and Matt Kelly played against Queensland in 1991. The NSW team during that week defeated Queensland which included such players as Jimmy Maher, Martin Love, Andrew Symonds and Matthew Mott.
The selection of these players is also a significant recognition for the work of the Gordon Cricket Academy that has been dedicated to providing skilled coaching services and mentoring for our members now for 7 years.

It is also important to recognize our Academy major sponsor Peter Horwitz from Inside Sport who gives us the opportunity to provide these services. I am sure each of these boys is appreciative of support provided by Peter as well as the excellent work done by our coaching team headed by Steve Smith.
This is a great honour to play for NSW Under 17 and NSW schoolboys and we wish our players all the best for their matches.
