Announcement of Club Captain and Club Vice Captain
The General Committee is pleased to announce that the big bustling first grade bowler, Dylan Connell, and the sweet singing Ian Higgins, have been appointed as the Club Captain and Club Vice Captain for the 2007/08 season.
Read the message from Dylan below:
Fellow Stags, both players and supporters,
It was real honour for me to be asked to be Club Captain for the upcoming 07/08 season, thus I didn't hesitate to accept. Gordon is a great club and in the last few years, through the hard work of many people, both on and off the field, the club has returned to the top of the Sydney Grade Cricket scene.
But it is not just what happens on the field that makes it so. Off the field in a social/club sense is just as important. I want to extend an invitation to anybody within the club who would like to be on the social committee, to have a chat with me at some stage, as many hands make light work and we are always open for suggestions.
Plans are already in progress for a number of events this year and we are hoping to release dates and times for all events prior to the start of the competition rounds. This year, there will be no excuses for people not knowing what's on. These events will most likely include a Golf Day, Xmas Party and Ladies Day, plus a few others.
In current news, the final touches are also being made to 07/08 GDCC Fantasy League, with information packs to be released soon. For those of you who weren't involved last year, and can't wait to find out what all the fuss is about, check out the results from last season's league in the "Recent Club News" section of the website.
Come to think of it, with the number of (more than welcome) minors now amongst our playing club members, maybe a trip to Fairfield City Farm or watching Romper Room re-runs, with lolly-bags afterwards will also be on the cards (Editor's Note: Dylan, I think that Romper Room finished before some of these boys were born)
Guys remember it is your club so lets all put in to have a massive season both on and off the field.
It would be amiss not to mention my Vice-Captain, Missy Higgins, and the massive effort he puts in off the field. It will be a pleasure working with him this year.
Up Gordon,
Dyldo. |
