Player of the Year Update
The club's cricket committee have reviewed the Player of the Year points and have decided to change the points for this season as follows:
- Runs - 1 pt per run (Bonus 50-99 - 50 pts, 100-149 - 100 pts, 150+ - 150 pts)
|
- Wickets - 15 pts per wicket (Bonus - 3 or 4 wkts in an innings - 50 pts, 5 or 6 in an innings, 100 pts, 7+ in an innings - 150 points)
|
- Catches & run-outs unassisted - 10 pts; run-outs assisted - 5 points;

|
This change was made on a view that the old points system favoured the batsmen ahead of bowlers and also withdraws interpretation issues of bonus points for bowling in an innings and a match.
Having said that under the revised system a batsman still leads after six rounds. However that player is Jeremy Cashman with 331 runs including 2 centuries and definitely a man of the match performance for 2nd grade last weekend by scoring 128* and securing victory for his team.

All-rounders Ed Zelma and Matt Michael fill 2nd and 3rd spot, with Ed scoring valuable points following his 60 on Saturday against Fairfield, helping steer his team to a great win. The bowlers are also represented in the top 10 with club coach Ed Howiit leading from the front and also Richard Stobo and Josh Ling both in the top 10 following good early season form.
Two of the big movers this round were Elliot Richtor who with 4 wickets including a hat-trick moves to 11th position and Alastair Fitzpatrick with a great innings in 5ths of 90 n.o. moves up to 31st position.
