 SAFE PLAY
The Gordon District Cricket Club is always concerned about the welfare of our players and this season will be recommending the services of David Philpot, Physiotherapist, Lifecare Chatswood.
David is the head physiotherapist for the Sydney Kings Basketball, and is involved with the Sydney Flames Basketball, Riverview Rugby and Rowing, and Forrest Rugby.
INJURY PREVENTION
David will be spending an afternoon with the coaching staff, and other interested parties prior to the start of season to provide a plan for session warm ups, stretching and first aid.
PRE-SEASON SCREENING
David is offering through his clinic an assessment for players going into pre season, to provide them with a priority list of areas of potential injury or weakness, and a short exercise program to help correct these issues, hopefully leading to less injuries. David has used this very successful at other clubs, at all levels. It would be particularly worthwhile to bowlers and their backs, however we would encourage everyone to be screened.
This assessment can be conducted for a fee of $60 and is partly covered by health insurance depending upon the individuals cover.
INJURY MANAGEMENT
The practice is situated within an Orthopaedic Medicine Centre, where they have strong relationships with Sports Physicians, Surgeons and X-ray facilities. The clinic is open from 7.30am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.
Gordon club members would receive a discount on their initial consult of $12, so that they only ever paid $48 per visit. (Partly covered by Health insurance as above).
David will operate as the "Head Physiotherapist" and any other physiotherapists that may treat a Gordon cricketer will report to David on the injuries and treatment.
