Message From The President
A warm welcome to the Club to all our new players, and a warm welcome back to the Club to those players who were with us last season or in previous years.
Last season was one of the better seasons for the Club with our 1st Grade being Runners Up in the SCA Competition, our 4th Grade making the play-offs, the Club finishing 7th in the Grade Club Championship (not far behind 3rd place), two of our players (Matt Nicholson and Beau Casson) playing significant roles in NSW winning the Pura Cup Competition (recently re-named the Sheffield Shield), and Beau Casson being named in the Australian Test Squad to tour the West Indies. (Subsequently, Beau became the 401st player to wear the "Baggy Green" cap with a successful debut in the 3rd Test in Barbados.)
These achievements were the result of plenty of hard work by players, administrators and coaches over several years. But, as I stated in the Annual Report, we are at a stage in our development where continued effort by all concerned can set the Club up for a bright future while "coasting" will inevitably result in the Club slipping back to the standards of the "bad old days".
The Club has now been part of the Sydney Grade Cricket competition for 103 seasons. We are keen to continue the development of the vast base of junior cricketers in the mid-North Shore of Sydney and to remain a powerful cricketing force for many years to come.
I wish you all a very successful and enjoyable season. I urge all players, officials, coaches and family members to become involved in your Club, not just on the field but also in attending its various social functions, and in contributing in appropriate ways to its overall running and well-being. In that way, both individual and collective success and enjoyment is assured.
Good luck to you all. |
