Third Grade Round One 2011/12 |
Gordon faced off against Parramatta-Blacktown in a T20 match at home in the opening round of 3rd Grade for season 2011/12. After losing the toss, Gordon were asked to have a field. Some tight bowling at the start of the innings from Carly and Jackie was rewarded when Carly picked up the first of her wickets courtesy of a catch from Davo. Parramatta 1-8. However, with Sandy Cameron their dangerous opener still at the helm, Parramatta steadied the ship and began to put a few runs on. However, with Cameron retiring at 32* and a new batter at the crease, Gordon sensed their opportunity to put the brakes on again and great work from Alyce and Spud brought about a run out dismissal. Carly came on and combined with Davo again to pick up another wicket and finished with fantastic figures of 2/3 off 3. At the end of 20 overs, Parramatta finished with a total of 3/89.
Kristen began her Gordon career in stylish fashion and made sure that Gordon got off to the best possible start. Her quick fire 31* saw her smashing the ball to all parts of Forsyth oval. Not to be outdone, Alyce ensured Gordon finished with bonus points thanks to her 26*, which included a six over square leg. Despite a small rain delay, Gordon chased down Parramatta's total to finish 0/90 from just 12.2. overs. A fantastic way to kick off the season!
