The Gordon boys arrived at Tunks Park full of confidence after winning 3 in a row and still having not been beaten in the tournament to date.
The match against North Sydney was delayed due to the consistent and annoying rain that continued to fall on and off for several hours meaning the game was shortened to a 33 over match.
Ethan Garrett was one of the stand out bowlers
The game finally got under way around 2.00pm.
Immediately Gordon making a strong start with Ethan Garrett picking up one of the openers in the second over of the match with Glenn Winsor taking a good catch down at fine leg. The hosts lost regular wickets and struggled to a small and modest total of 125.
Dan Williams had a solid day with the ball against the Bears
The pick of the bowlers was Dan Williams with impressive figures of 3/20, Dan had good support from the other end from Ethan Garrett 2/24 and Jordan Hayes 2/14.
After Gordon’s strong performance in the field the batters were very confident that they could track this runs down very easily.
The innings started well with Michael Richardson and Rowan Love opening the batting. The Stags were cruising along until a brilliant catch at Mid-wicket removed Rowan (7).
Nick and Jay take the attack up to the Bears
This then brought the inform captain to the middle who was coming off a brilliant 83* against Mosman on Tuesday. Nick didn’t waste any time in getting going and built a strong partnership with Michael.
Michael Richardson will be looking to practice against the straight full toss before the finals
Michael Richardson came unstuck on 26 in embarrassing fashion missing a gentle leg spinning full toss on leg stump. This then brought out the youngest member of the team in Jayllen Naganayagam who absolutely smoked them around the racing to 41. Jay and Nick combined to almost see out the match and win it for the Stags.
But Jay fell with the score being 123 meaning there was only 2 runs to get. Nick Andreou hit the final runs to finish with 33 not out and win the game for the stags making it 4 from 4 for the Gordon boys.
