Round 3 - Gordon vs St George

Strolling into Killara Oval on an overcast morning full of confidence after the first round win, the stags unfortunately loss the toss with St George electing to bat first on another flat wicket.

Our opening bowlers, Glenn Winsor and Kyle Townsend, got Gordon off to a good start with pressure built from both ends. This led the way for Jordan Hayes to come on and rip through the top order of St George having taken 3 wickets in his first 4 overs, leaving the opposition 3 for 41. Just as the game was slipping through Gordon’s grasp, Ethan Garrett and Glenn Winsor came on and took vital wickets to pull Gordon back in command.

What a day for Glenn Winsor, 3 wickets and 68 runs

Some tight and accurate bowling from Naba Haider and new spells from Glenn Winsor and Ethan Garrett lead to regular wickets being taken during the middle overs.

The Stags bowled the opposition out for 172, with Jordan Hayes and Glenn Winsor being the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 22 off 10 and 3 for 30 off 10, respectively. These bowlers were well backed up with Ethan Garrett taking 2 for 36 off 6.4 and Naba Haider taken 1 for 24 off 8. Some excellence in the field by Michael Richardson, Harry Vale and Jay Naganayagam as well as a smart stumping by skipper Nick Andreou topped off a solid first innings performance by the stags.

Gordon’s batting innings didn't start well losing 3 for 11 and then in strife at 4 for 48. Glenn Winsor then came in and stole the show with a blistering 68 including 5 fours and 5 sixes taking the game away from St George. Michael Richardson played a crucial innings acting as the anchor. In tale with Shivraj Rana, Gordon completed a successful run chase winning by 5 wickets and 11 overs remaining.
